Before you compare boiler quotes
Check every quote covers the same work. The commonest reason two prices look miles apart is that one of them quietly leaves something out – VAT, the flue, a filter, taking the old boiler away, or making good afterwards.

Why compare boiler quotes
Two quotes for what sounds like the same boiler can differ by hundreds, and the cheaper one is not always the better deal. A low price can mean a shorter warranty, no filter or system clean, or the old boiler left for you to get rid of. Three quotes on the same make, model and output show you what is normal, so you can spot the one that is out of line.
What a good boiler quote shows
- The make, model and output of the boiler, and the length of the manufacturer warranty.
- The flue, the condensate pipe and any new pipework, and what a longer or moved flue adds.
- A magnetic filter and a system clean or flush, and what happens if the system needs more work.
- Who registers the installation with Gas Safe and the manufacturer, and who gives you the certificate.
- What the price leaves out, such as a new thermostat, radiator valves or a cylinder.
