Who can fit a new boiler?

Gas boilers must be fitted by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Ask to see their Gas Safe card, which shows what they are registered to work on, before they start, and check them on the Gas Safe Register.

In England, installing a boiler is also notifiable under the Building Regulations. A registered installer notifies the work for you and gives you a certificate, and manufacturers usually ask for it before they will honour a long warranty. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own rules.
