Combi Boiler Information – Central Heating Combination BoilerA combination boiler (or combi for short) is a heating unit that can normally be wall mounted and does not require the tank, water cylinder and connecting pipework found in traditional water heating systems. It is easy to install and is highly efficient and because of this it now accounts for 50% of domestic boilers fitted every year in Great Britain. A combination boiler has many advantages over more traditional forms of water heating. Most notably it can save a great deal of money as well as space. A combi boiler heats water as and when it uses it which means that there is no need for a tank (which means no risk of freezing or flooding). As you are not constantly heating water as the tank needs refilling you can reduce your fuel bill quite substantially. For smaller dwellings or homes that do not have that much space; bungalows or apartments/flats where saving space is necessary, a combination boiler would be more practical than traditional heating systems. It will also be very helpful for those thinking about converting their loft into another room or bedroom. A combi will provide will provide you with strong shower power as it heats water at mains pressure. Condensing Combination Boilers A condensing combination boiler is more efficient due to its ability to extract more heat from the flue gases normally lost to the environment through the flue system. Good Energy Saving Advice: Turn off all electrical devices at the plug instead of using the 'standby' function. IMPORTANT NOTICE New Government regulations (Part L) require that from the 1st of April 2005 all new boiler installations must be of the 'high efficiency' condensing type. There are very few exceptions to this law.
