Combi Boiler Information – Boiler Combination Does FunctionA combi (or combination boiler) is a compact and highly efficient unit giving all the heating and hot water you need. It provide with significant savings on running and installation costs. Traditional heating and hot water systems store domestic hot water normally in a water cistern or tank in the loft of a house. Combination Boilers do not require a tank as they do not store water. Instead they heats water directly from the cold mains when you use it. By fitting a combination boiler you eliminate the need for a hot water cylinder, a tank in the loft (and so less risk of freezing and flooding), and the linking pipework. By installing a Combination boiler you not only save space, but also reduce hot water costs - which can account for up to 60% of a typical domestic fuel bill. There is no need for a pump to have strong water pressure for your shower. A combination boiler also supplies hot water at mains pressure thus eliminating need for a pump. A condensing combi boiler is more efficient due to its ability to extract more heat from the flue gases normally lost to the environment through the flue system. Good Energy Saving Advice: Energy saving light bulbs cost more than regular light bulbs but they use far less electricity than normal bulbs. So in the long run they save you money. IMPORTANT NOTICE New Government regulations (Part L) require that from the 1st of April 2005 all new boiler installations must be of the 'high efficiency' condensing type. There are very few exceptions to this law.
